Applicants must submit results from an English proficiency assessment unless their first language is English or they have completed the last two full years (excluding the current year) of formal instruction in English. Preferred tests include the TOEFL and IELTS. The TOEFL iBT Home Edition and Duolingo English Test will be considered if these are unavailable.
Scores must be sent directly from the testing agency. Competitive applicants typically score above 90 on the TOEFL, 7.0 on the IELTS, or 110 on Duolingo. Note that SAT, SAT Subject Test, and ACT scores cannot be used to meet the English proficiency requirement.
Lehigh University offers need-based financial assistance to a limited number of admitted non-U.S. citizens who apply for financial aid and demonstrate financial need. While the university aims to meet 100% of the demonstrated need (excluding travel and personal expenses) for as many admitted students as possible, funds are limited.
Admissions decisions for non-U.S. citizens are need-aware, meaning applicants are evaluated with consideration of their financial ability to cover educational costs as part of the holistic admissions process. Some students who apply for financial aid but do not demonstrate need may be admitted without an offer of financial assistance. Conversely, some applicants may be declined due to limited financial aid resources.
If admitted, no additional funding will be provided beyond the initial financial aid offer, except for adjustments reflecting increases in the cost of attendance. Lehigh cannot offer additional financial aid due to fluctuations in the value of your home country’s currency during enrollment.
You can contact Lehigh University’s admissions counsellor in India, Vinita Desai, at india@lehigh.edu.You can also email luinternational@lehigh.edu or find your regional admissions counsellor and contact them directly.
